Oyster Bagging to Restore Shorelines

oyster Volunteers were hard at work bagging oysters shells that will be deployed along strategically selected shorelines of the Indian Lagoon in Fort Pierce, FL. Thank you Jim Oppenborn, a tireless advocate for local environmental causes, for bringing volunteers, equipment, oyster shells and shorelines together. Motorized Kayak Adventures pitched in and we support volunteer based conservation. Hunting for mangrove water snakes in Fort Pierce, FL

snake HUNTING SNAKES! We can’t even think of a way to explain how cool this was. Thanks researchers Josh and Tom for allowing us the chance to tag along and for giving us a glimpse of what it’s like to search for these amazing mangrove saltmarsh snakes in their natural environment. Dark, a little muddy and very wet, we were able to catch and bag several snakes last night. They will be documented and then released. Motorized Kayak Adventures of the Treasure Coast provided the kayaks (no motors this time) and assisted with getting everyone in and around the mangrove swamps, right here in Fort Pierce, Florida.
